The Museum of Innocence by Orhan Pamuk - I started reading it because I loved the title but it turned out to be one of the best books of the decade for me. A gem of a love story which, in a way, is also a hymn to the city of Istanbul in the 1970s and 1980s. Make sure you have plenty of paper handkerchiefs at hand. You will need them. Here is a taster.
“If we give what we treasure most to a Being we love with all our hearts, if we can do that without expecting anything in return, then the world becomes a beautiful place.”
